He was predeceased by: his daughter Regina Vermel Heyward. He is survived by: his children, Bryant Heyward (Mary), Porsha Heyward, Courtney Richardson and Jessica Scott (Dennis); his siblings, Lelia Carr (Jimmy), Christine Lyles (Elton), Rev. Dover Alfred Heyward (Louise), Ruth Heyward- of Washington, Charles C. Heyward (Carolyn) and Rev. Susan Heyward; and his friend Cynthia Thomas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Due to COVID-19 Facial Mask and social distancing is required at visitation and graveside.
