He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell H. Erling Spong and Maude Leona Gilliand Spong; and his daughter Heather Spong Alnuweiri. He is survived by: his wife Lee Parker Smith Spong. He is also survived by one niece, one great-nephew, one great-niece, five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
