Lennie S. Middleton Obituary
Lennie Small Middleton Jr., 89, a lifelong resident of Jefferson, South Carolina, passed away peacefully with his wife and beloved pets by his side on Sunday October 6, 2024. He was born on May 6, 1935, to the late Lennie Middleton, Sr. and Susie Mae Seegars Middleton. He is also predeceased by his son, Lennie S. Middleton, III and sisters, Joan Middleton Miller and Betty Sue Middleton Rollins. Lennie was a beacon of intelligence, faith, and love throughout his life, touching the hearts of all who knew him.
Lennie's early years in Jefferson were filled with the joys of small-town life, where he developed a love for the outdoors. After completing his education, he embarked on a career as a professor that allowed him to balance his professional responsibilities with his passion for golf and sailing. Lennie's love for the sea was as profound as his commitment to every endeavor he undertook, and he will be remembered for his grace on the waves as much as for his acumen on the golf course.
In his personal life, Lennie was a devoted husband to his wife of thirty-eight years, Corinne Middleton of Jefferson, SC, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories. The mother of his predeceased son Lennie, Carol Proctor of Shelby, NC. Lennie's home was filled with the warmth of his loving pets, Gretel, Kooka, Magic, Oracle, and Maddy who were a constant source of joy and companionship.
There will be a Celebration of Life Graveside Service on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Ben Miller and Dick Rollins officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
