He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, George Allen Mitchum Jr. (Brett) of Huger, SC, David Anthony Mitchum Sr. (Lynn) of Huger, SC and Tracy Ann Freeman (Gerald) of Jamestown; his grandchildren, Kimberly Flathmann (Roger), Brittany Mitchum (Randy), Allen Mitchum (Camrynn), Lauren Freeman, Peyton Freeman and Axel Gaskins; his great grandchildren, Kynlee, Luna, Beau, Chase and Finley; and his sisters, Brenda Thomas (Glenn) and Diane Marschke. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
