With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Evelyn Ruth Thomas of James Island, South Carolina, born in Springfield, South Carolina, who passed away on July 5, 2020 at the age of 98. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lefler Arnold Ruth and Annie Mae Bassett Ruth; her husband Warren Lee Thomas; her former husband Marion John Shier; her siblings, Dorothy Ruth Morris, Beatrice Ruth Usher and Ellis Harris Ruth; and her grandchildren, David Garland and Leann Garland.
She is survived by: her daughters, Mary Ann Shier Tindal of North Charleston, SC, Janet Shier Snyder of Warren and Kathy Shier Fowler (John) of Rincon, GA.; her stepchildren, Warren Lee Thomas, Jr. (Bonnie) of Columbia, SC, Charles Edward Thomas of Columbia, SC and Linda Thomas Martin; her grandsons, Christopher Lee Garland of Sumter, SC, T. Evans Tindal (Melonie) of Morganton, NC, Kevin M. Tindal (Tamee) of Rock Hill, SC and Brian Garland of Warren, OH.; and her sister Uldine Ruth Pitts of Springfield, GA. She is also survived by Several nieces, nephews, cousins.
Because of her fondness for flowers, the family will gratefully accept floral offerings, or a donation made in her memory to the Church of the Nativity, 1061 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412 will be appreciated.
