It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Laura Smith Arledge (Irmo, South Carolina), who passed away on February 13, 2025, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Laura Smith may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Laura Smith touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Clanton Smith and Delia Cudd Smith; her husband William H. Arledge, Sr.; and her siblings, Delia S. Anderson, Robert C. Smith, Jr. and James Dean Smith.
She is survived by: her son William H. Arledge, Jr.; and her niece Marie Smith Wicker. She is also survived by niece and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Mausoleum Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Bush River Memorial Gardens (5400 Bush River Rd, Columbia, SC 29212).
