With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Alvin Nelson Berry (Irmo, South Carolina), who passed away on June 18, 2024 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Caronell Jones Berry and John Raymond Berry; his brother John Faye Berry (Sybil); and his son Alvin Nelson Berry, Jr.. He is survived by : his siblings, Marguerite Johnson and Ranelle Hughey; his wife Evelyn B. Berry; his children, Kenneth Marion Berry (Durema), John Brian Berry (Trena), Amy Tapp and Lynn Swygert (Kevin); and his grandchildren, Thomas Berry, Makenna Berry, Addison Berry, Nevaeh Hughes, Carter Berry, Ellisen Berry, Christian Alvin Berry, Andrew Berry, Abigail Berry, Rion Tapp (Lauren) and Katelin Dukes (Zack).

Visitation was held on Friday, June 21st 2024 from 12:30 PM to 2:45 PM at the St. Andrews Baptist Church (230 Bush River Rd, Columbia, SC 29210). A funeral service was held on Friday, June 21st 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.

Memorials may be given to St. Andrews Baptist Church, 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29210 or the Al Berry Scholarship Endowment at Clemson University, 110 Daniel Drive, Clemson, SC 29631.

“So sorry to hear of Alvin’s passing we had known each other as babies ,were little sunbeams together at Richland, he rode home with us after basketball practice, being a neighbour we spent our younger days on these red hills in Saluda County. Which I know he loved. May he rest in peace out of pain. Sorry for your loss it is great I know. Martha Padgett”
