She was predeceased by: her parents, George Russell and Bessie Russell (Wilson); her husband Joseph L. McDowell Jr.; and her siblings, Billy Russell and Dot Russell.
She is survived by: her daughters, Phyllis Howard (Bill) and Beverly Stokes (David); her grandsons, Michael Stokes (Sarah) and Joseph Stokes; and her great grandchildren, Emma Grace and Lily.
