He was predeceased by: his parents, Grace Cooper (Alley) and Lewis Cooper; his son James Russell Cooper, Jr.; and his siblings, Robert Cooper, Jeanette McCraw and Ada Green.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Cooper (Burrell); his daughters, Alisa Cheryl Hall of Inman, SC and Audrey Cooper Bracken of Easley, SC; and his siblings, Linda Plumley of Campobello, SC, Betty Lee of Roebuck, SC. and Harold Cooper of Campobello, SC. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
