He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Marvin and Frances Ford Mathis. He is survived by: his daughter Lorianne "Lori" Mathis Hinsey; and his grandchildren, Loren Storm Hinsey, Parker Vincent Mathis, Owen Russell Mathis and Jasper Perry Mathis.
