He was predeceased by: his father Billy James Abernathy; and his brother Jerry Abernathy. He is survived by: his mother Betty Jane Abernathy (Lee); his wife Regina Abernathy (Bradley); his children, Amanda Abernathy and Phillip Abernathy (Jennifer); his brother James Abernathy (Shirlene); his grandchildren, Madison Abernathy (Miguel), Hudson Abernathy and Khloe Abernathy; and his great grandchild Omaira Faison.
