It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Yoshiko Penland of Honea Path, South Carolina, who passed away on November 21, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Joel Maynor Penland, Sr. of The Maples; her parents, Heikichi Hirata and Kame Hirata; her son Tsutomu Hirata; and her siblings, Kanei, Heisyo, Chiru, Hatsu, Chiyoko and Michiko.
She is survived by: her sons, Joel Penland Jr. of Honea Path and Rick Penland (Lisa) of Honea Path; her sisters, Takeko, Masako of Japan and Suziko Hickey of Ohio; her sisters-in-law, Linda Crawford of Gray Court and Faye Roberts of Due West; her grandchildren, Akira, Kassi Kyle (Austin) and Kristan Keown (Daniel); her great grandchildren, Zoey and Wrigley; her niece Keiko Nakada; and also Pat Ball of Aiken.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to The Maples, 224 Wildwood Drive, Honea Path, SC 29654.
