He was predeceased by: his son Joe Anthony "Joey" Atkin; and his brothers, Allen, Walter, Robert and James William "Billy" Atkin.
He is survived by: his wife Polly Pruitt Atkin; his daughter Jan Howell (Rayford); his grandchildren, Joie Lynn Baldwin (Jamie), Joseph Atkin and Justin Atkin (Sarah); and his great grandchild Brady Baldwin. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
