He was predeceased by: his parents, John Alfred and Wilda Banister Smith; his sisters, Pheobe Tuten and Lydia Poore; and his brothers-in-law, Phillip Brock, Will Tuten and Ted Poore.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Louise Whitfield Smith; his sons, Mitch Smith (Annette) of Honea Path and Chad Smith (Angie) of Honea Path; his sisters, Nancy Brock of Honea Path and Faye Jennings (Bill) of Honea Path; his grandchildren, Austin Cooley, Magan Horton (Matt) and Erica Fisher (Bryar); his great grandchildren, Mattex, Mabel and MaCoy; his caregivers, Mary Hawthorne, Shamekia Teasley and Natasha Smith; and his pet Bud.
