He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Coker and Dora Bunch Coker; and his brother Edgar Coker. He is survived by: his wife Mary Virginia "Jenny" Coker; his children, Gerald Coker (Diane) and Brenda Kinsey (Kelly) of Holly Hill; his grandsons, Anthony Coker, Philip Coker, Joseph Coker, Walter Kinsey (Lauren) and Jonathan Kinsey (Amber); his great grandchildren, Jayden, Izabella, Khloe, Kohle, Layla and Brantley; and his siblings, Alvin Coker (Susie), Clara Jackson and Alice Westbury (Bobby).
