He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Thomas and Wilhelmine Allen Bishop; his son Alfred T. III; his sister Wilhelmina M. Whayne of Louisville; and his wife Helen Elizabeth Lewis of Roanoke.
He is survived by: his sons, Lee Lewis and William Allen; his daughters-in-law, Susan Donnelly Bishop and Julie Ardery; and his granddaughters, Elizabeth and Margaret. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
The family requests that expressions of condolence be made through contributions to Washington and Lee University.
