He is survived by: his wife Ruth; his daughter Katie Thurman (Russell); his sister Sory Bowers (Henry); his stepchildren, John Ford (Jacqueline Clement), Sandra Mendler (Charles), Russell Ford (Christine), Deborah Peters and Douglas Ford (Karolina); his grandchildren, Bridgit Cleverly (Griffin), Nick Mendler, Haley Peters, Justin Peters, Austin Peters, Christopher Ford, James Ford and Maya Ford; and his great grandchild Levi Cleverly.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tumaini Fund USA, which provides water to villages in Tanzania.
