Penny Blatt Obituary
We are sad to announce that on March 6, 2023, Penny Blatt of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Rebecca "Betty" Schlein Rechtman and Dr. Abraham M. Recthman; her husband David Blatt; and her close friends, Bea Apflebaum, Herb Apflebaum and Sydell Sloan.
She is survived by: her children, Steven Yarrow (Lynn Costomiris), Michael Yahuda and Ellen Yahuda (Gregory Davis); her grandchildren, Ryan Davis (Hillary Davis), Jenny Davis (James Chouinard), Derek Jones (Jessica Jones), Rebecca Jones, Abigail Laurie and Matthew Bullock (Pat Bullock); her great grandchildren, Bo Jones and Jude Jones; and her adoptive daughter Teri.
Penny's generous donation facilitated the opening of a wing in the Orthopedic Department at Temple University Hospital named after her father, Dr. Abraham M. Rechtman. In David Blatt's name, she donated a recurring scholarship for students in need at Drexel University and made a large donation to the Hillel Jewish Center on the Drexel Campus.
