He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Luther Milton and Estella Strayer; his wife Mary Ann Strayer; his sisters, Elizabeth Wolff and Suzanne Kaplan; his daughter Ann Strayer (Arzou Ahsan); his grandchildren, Judas and Oriane Strayer; his son Luther Strayer, IV (Emily); and his grandchildren, Henry and Jesse.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Hilton Head Island Crew, 8 Long Marsh Lane, HHI, SC 29928.
