It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Julius Samuel Scott Jr. (Hilton Head Island, South Carolina), born in Houston, Texas, who passed away on August 1, 2019, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius S. Scott, Sr. and Bertha Bell Scott; his brother Lamar Houston Scott; and his nephew Bertrand Howard Batiste. He is survived by: his brother Dr. Scott; his wife Ann; his sons, Julius Sherard Scott III, David Kumar Scott and Lamar King Scott; his sister Gertrude Scott Batiste; his nephew Harold Eugene Batiste, Jr.; and his niece Amy Leilani Batiste.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to: Paine College Organ Restoration Fund 1235 15th Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901; the Penn Center, Inc. PO Box 126, St. Helena Island, SC 29920; or Wiley College 711 Wiley Avenue, Marshall, TX 75670.

“My mother Ruth King, who suffers from dementia, was saddened to hear of her friend's passing. As her daughter I had the opportunity to met Julius and his dear wife, Ann several times while visiting my parents. When we said goodbye and moved my mother to be near us in Maine it was a loss she felt deeply. Dr. Scott's humor, compassion and amazingly accomplished life touched so many. Although I did not know him well, I know the world is a little less bright without him.”

“We are saddened to hear of the passing of dr. Scott. He and his wife, ann are very special to us; we hold wonderful memories of them. Dr. Scott holds a very special place in our hearts. He officiated at our wedding on august 20, 1994 and what a glorious day that was for us. I worked with dr. Scott as an alumni representative during both his tenures at paine college in augusta. His kind spirit, diplomacy and professionalism were always evident. We will miss him! Mary stamper-murray & bb murray”
