He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Ehlers and Sara Ehlers; his wife Patricia; his sons, John "Benjie" (Leslie) and Chad (Theresa); his grandchildren, Kaylee, Noah, Zayda, Johnathan, Jasmine and Sawyer; and his mother-in-law Mary Lee Smith. He was also cherished by relatives and friends.

Donations may be made to Celiac Disease Foundation and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
