He was predeceased by: his parents, Francois Tonder and Johanna Van Tonder; and his siblings, Renier and Thea of South Africa. He is survived by: his former wife Naomi Sampson; his children, Minnette (Scott) of Kansas, Sannette of Hilton Head, Gerda (Brian) of Calabasas, CA and Bertus (Lacey) of Hilton Head; his brother Frans of Metter, GA.; his grandchildren, Michael, George, Gary, Lizzy, Daniel, Belle, Simon, Alice, Katherine and Laia; and his sisters, Ella, Susan, Bettie and Daleen.
