He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Patricia Smith; his daughters, Joanne Newcomb (Letcher), Kerrie Bradford (James) and Helen Atkins (Cole); his grandchildren, David, Caroline Newcomb, Olivia, Harper Atkins, Jamie, Dorsey and Alex Bradford; his siblings, Jim Smith, Tony Smith (Anthea) and Elizabeth Zdanko; and his nieces and nephews, Robert Smith (Amy), Linda Howells (Micky), Lee Smith (Victoria), Faye Galling (Chris), Natasha Gittus (Graham) and Genia Garrity (Will).
