He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Frederick Spires and Margaret Jones Spires. He is survived by: his children, William "Will" Spires and Samantha Nicole Spires-Griggs; his son-in-law Jason Felkel; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Dawson Griggs, Payton Lee Griggs, Emma Futrell, Kasey Wolfe, Karlie Felkel and Kaleb Felkel.
