He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Atkinson and Connie Petty Atkinson; his grandson Dustin Atkinson; and his siblings, Andrew Atkinson, Jack Atkinson of Tex Atkinson, L. J, Darla Freeman and Carolyn Mixon.
He is survived by: his wife Carole Waldron Atkinson; his son Andy Atkinson; his grandson Dalton Atkinson; his great grandchildren, Hunter Atkinson, Ivy Dixon and Drake Cook; his daughter-in-law Dawn Catoe; and his siblings, Jimmy Atkinson, Frank Atkinson, Scott Atkinson, Lois Gainey, Mary Brewer and Connie Rodriguez.
