He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Monroe and Mary Darr Monroe; his siblings, Frances Monroe Kelly and James Monroe; his brother-in-law John 'Buddy Butler; and his children, Lisa Hickman, Becky Kennedy and Kenneth Sheffield.
He is survived by: his children, Pamela Monroe (James Garand), Michael Monroe and Jo Monroe; his grandchildren, Kate Holmes (George), Brian, Carson Garand, Christopher, Andrew, Alexandria Monroe, Alliana and Chet Herndon; his great grandchildren, Russell and Lucy Frances Holmes; and his sisters-in-law, Faye Lewis, Peggy Norris (Milton), Jean Kimball, Janice Rich, Sylvia Carter and Edna Morris (Mickey).
