He is survived by: his wife Janice Davis; his stepdaughter Kelli Davis Odom (Buddy); his daughter Ashley Morris (Brandon); his brother Charles King; his grandson Tripp Metts; his aunt Katherine Roscoe; and his nephews, James Hoffman, Robert Hoffman (Pattie), Brad and Chad King.

The family asks in lieu of flowers that memorials may be made in memory of Joe to the Darlington County Humane Society.
