He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Elizabeth Jacobs Greene and James Greene, Jr.; his wife Vanessa Strickland Greene; his children, Ebony (Bright), Ayalingo of Charlotte, NC, Amanda "Mandy" Greene of Columbia, SC and Jonathan Greene, Jr. of Pawleys Island, SC; his adoptive son Zavyon Pearson (Keyra) of Florence, SC; his grandchildren, Emari Avalingo, ElaniAvalingo and Adrian Pearson; his siblings, Nancy Cain, Phyllis Scott (Edward M.), Yvonne Greene, Richard Greene, Robin Jones (Tommy), Allison Carraway and Christa McAllister (Jerry); his close friend Timothy Cotton; and his brothers-in-law, Carl Cain and Sgt. Terrence Carraway. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
