He was predeceased by: his parents, James Hubert Gainey Sr. and Maxine Andrews Gainey. He is survived by: his wife Nira Barfield Gainey; his children, Hayden Carter, Bailee Alysha Gainey, Kristen Gainey and Brooke Edwards (Justin); his siblings, Lee Barfield (Melisa), Karen Yarborough (Ron Acord) and Vicky Moore (Tim); his grandchildren, Carter Walters, Avery Walters and Olivia Kate Edwards; and his father-in-law George Blackwell.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 5th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home (306 W Home Ave, Hartsville, SC 29550). Visitation was held on Sunday, January 5th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Brown Pennington Atkins Funeral Home (306 W Home Ave, Hartsville, SC 29550).
Memorials may be made in his honor to Lakeview Baptist Church, 202 Lakeview Boulevard, Hartsville, SC 29550, or flowers are welcome for the home.
