He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Claude Fort and Gladys Coker Fort; his spouse Jean Prentice Smith; his children, Gay Fort Boswell of Charlotte, NC, Melanie Fort Christian (Lynch) of Lynchburg, VA, Claudia Fort Heath (Andy) of Charlotte, NC, Caleb Coker Fort of Winston Salem, NC, George Hamlet Tatum Fort (Alice) of Little Switzerland, NC, Edward Gay Fort (Lori) of Hartsville, SC and James Coker Fort, Jr.; and his grandson Saxon Crenshaw Boswell (Jean Prentice Smith). He was also cherished by 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
