He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Leila Segars and Julian Segars; his wife Leslie Kay Gainey Segars; his daughters, Karen Hodge (David) of Bluff City, TN and Chris Howle (Robert) of Hartsville, SC; his grandchildren, Chad Smith (Alice) of Kingsport, TN, Leslie Howle Kerrigan (Dan) of Greenville, SC, Ashley Howle Denton (Mose) of Camden, SC and Christopher Hodge (Crystal) of Johnson City, TN; his great grandchildren, Julian Smith, Caroline Smith, Jack Kerrigan, Eli Kerrigan, McLean Denton, Ella Denton, Tyler Hodge, Kaylyn Hodge and Riley Hodge; his sister Shirley Tapp of Columbia, SC; his nephew Woody Woodham (Cindy) of Chapin, SC; his daughter Jackie Haithcock; and his grandson Jacob Haithcock. He was also cherished by two great-nephews and one great-niece.
