He was predeceased by: his parents, William Marvin Griggs and Sallie Ruth Linton Griggs; his wife Iris Winburn Griggs; his daughter-in-law Joanne Griggs; and his siblings, Sandy Griggs, Lemuel Griggs, Bernice Peavey, Virginia Tyner, Alma Hunter and Gladys Gainey.
He is survived by: his children, DeLisa McKenzie (Robert), Ivy Blue, Wilford Griggs and Rev. William Marvin Griggs (Marlene); his sister-in-law Mary Ellen Griggs; his grandchildren, Robbie McKenzie, Charity Davis (Stacy), Cam Blue (Amy), Marty McKenzie (Julia), Tabitha Faile, Greg Griggs (Mica) and Matthew Griggs (Kailey); his great grandchildren, Noah McKenzie, Kaitlin Collins (Donald), Luke, Hank Blue, Tanner Davis (Amber), Austin, Connor Faile, Morgan Griggs, Dawson Griggs (Rebecca), Payton Griggs, Heidi Griggs, Gabe Griggs and Rowan Griggs; his great great grandchild Waylon Davis; and his niece Kacey Cranford-Cooke (Dylan). He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Brown Pennington Atkins Funeral Home (306 W Home Ave, Hartsville, SC 29550). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home (306 W Home Ave, Hartsville, SC 29550).
