He was predeceased by: his wife Brenda Moore Gainey; his parents, Clayton Jerome Gainey and Mattie Lee Gainey; and his stepfather Ashton Gainey. He is survived by: his sons, Jerome Gainey (Lisa) of Gaffney, SC and Scott Gainey (Cheryl) of Hartsville, SC; his siblings, Wesley Gainey of Hartsville, SC, Earline Ingram of Tucson, AZ and Eunice Alexander (Ervin) of Hartsville, SC; his grandchildren, Christopher Beaver, Justin Beaver, Chase Gainey (Taylor), Kia Hardwick (Hunter) and Jennifer Gainey; and his great grandchildren, Lane Hardwick and Ryles Gainey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to Chapel Hill Baptist Church, 1569 Ruby Road, Hartsville, SC 29550.
