He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles William "Billy" Atkins and Modena Blackman Atkins. He is survived by: his children, James T. Atkins, Sr. (Virginia) of Lafayette, LA, George T. Atkins, Sr. (Robin) of Hartsville, SC and Sara A. Braddock (Kenny) of Columbia, SC; and his close friends, Luke and Gail Watson. He is also survived by "Poppa" by his nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
