He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul W. Johnson and Uneeda Tolson Bass. He is survived by: his daughter Ashley Hanback (Ben); his grandson Ridge Hanback of Killen, AL.; and his siblings, Gail Kimbrell of Hartsville, Tony Grant (Denice) of Hartsville, Steve Grant of Hartsville and Tinker Johnson (Maxine) of Hartsville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
