He was predeceased by: his parents, John Stokes and Eunice Parnell Stokes; his brother-in-law Quinton Stokes; his daughter-in-law Sharon Stokes; and his siblings, Pat Hall, Doris Windham, Buck Stokes and Bud Stokes.

He is survived by: his children, Wayne Stokes (Julie), Melissa Stokes and Quinton Stokes; his grandchildren, Brittney Joplin (Darin), Courtney Powell (Casey), Sophie, Savannah Stokes and Olivia Powell; his wife Vivian Capell Stokes; and his siblings, Johnny Mack Stokes (Linda), Dee Stokes and Gedelle Marshall.
