She was predeceased by: her parents, John Thomas Smith Sr. and Senith E. Smith; and her siblings, Virginia Smith, Richard Smith and Tom Smith.

She is survived by: her children, Jerald W. "Jerry" Newman, Jr. (Kelly), Thomas Christopher "Chris" Newman and Patricia A. "Patti" Infinger (Lloyd); her daughter-in-law Tallie A. Newman; her sisters-in-law, Rachel Smith and Sarah Smith; and her grandchildren, Richard Thomas Newman (Tanya), Ashlee Nicole Langley (Stacy), Joshua Wallace Newman, Sr. (Chelsea), Noah Lynne Newman, Marie Ayers (Charlie), Crystal Teresa Newman (James), Lloyd Alvin "Trey" Infinger, III (Jessica) and Brian Andrew Infinger (Amanda). She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren.
