He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Summers and Minnie Stokes Summers; his daughter Hildaguard Summers; and his grandchildren, Ashley Neals and Terrell Riley.
He is survived by: his wife Joanne Lawton Summers of Harleyville, SC; his children, Malcolm Summers (Ethel Lee) of Orangeburg, SC, Alexander Summers (Stephanie) of Jacksonville, FL, Elaine Wright (Andrew) of Athens and LaTari Davis (Delvin) of Orangeburg, SC; and his brothers, Allen Summers of Brooklyn, NY and Clyde Summers of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
