He was predeceased by: his wife Maxie Lee Long Harper; his parents, Homer Lamar Harper, Sr. and Caroline Kornahrens Harper; and his siblings, Arnold Harper and Helen Cook.
He is survived by: his children, Rebecca Harper (Jean-Pierre Bouchard) of Quebec, Gaye Harper Hutto (Leon) of Hilda, Rachel Harper Kramer (Jeff) of Seabrook and Homer Lamar Harper, III of Irmo; his grandchildren, Courtney Kramer, Scott Kramer, Stephanie Hutto and Blake Hutto; his great grandchildren, Laney Ray, Jackson Ray, Maddie Hutto, Nattalie Hutto and Ethan Hutto; and his sister Gwen Barnes of Columbia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be directed in his memory to: American Legion Post 108, 302 Hoover Street, Hampton, South Carolina 29924.
