He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Skey and Fred Skey of Sumter; his close friend Rosalind Ceson; and his siblings, James Skey, Charles "Buddy" Skey, Lillian S. Davis and Edley S. Tillery.

He is survived by: his children, Debra S. Townson (Wesley), Anne S. Fyans (Scott) and Sam Skey, Jr.; his granddaughter Christina Johnson; his children, Lindsey Caballero, Logan Townson, Lauren Townson, Austin Skey, Paige Iddings and Ivy Fyans; and his sister Emma S. Davis of Sumter, SC. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
