He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hugh Caldwell, Sr. and Lucile Caldwell Davis; his son-in-law Rick Springfield; and his siblings, Hugh Caldwell, Jr., Jimmy Caldwell, Duane Caldwell, Bobby Caldwell, Mildred C. Moe, Mae C. Britt, Camille C. Galzerano and Edyth C. Petrazilka.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Allen Caldwell of Greer; his children, Buddy Caldwell (Darlene), Johnny Caldwell (Tracie) of Greer, Lynne C. Springfield of Manassas and Luellen C. Schnee (Kevin) of Taylors; his grandchildren, Kyle Springfield, Michael Springfield, Tabatha Ard, Neil Caldwell, Brittany Caldwell, Austin Schnee and Matthew Schnee; and his great grandchildren, Hope Springfield, Murphy Ard and Ryder Springfield.
