He was predeceased by: his parents, John C. Calhoun Carnes and Virginia Campbell Carnes; and his sisters, Joyce Moore and Billie Lindsey. He is survived by: his wife Robbie Dean Davis Carnes; his children, Lee Carnes (Sandy) of Taylors and Lynn Patterson (Chris) of Landrum; his sisters, Sylvia Danielson of Greer and Connie Forrester (Mike) of Spartanburg; his grandchildren, Casey, Ashley, Dylan, Alex, Jay, Anthony, Annslee, Seth and Colton; and his great grandchildren, Leah Grace, Jon David, Elliana, Lilah, Lana, Nathan, Sophie Mae, Beatrice and Amelia.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Wood Mortuary, Inc. (300 W Poinsett St, Greer, SC 29650-1595). A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Tyger Baptist Church Cemetery (2764 SC-414, Taylors, SC 29687).
