He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles E. Knighton and Kathleen Harvey Hamby; and his grandsons, Austin, Aaron and Andrew Wheeler.
He is survived by: his wife Wilma Jean West Knighton; his sons, Dwain Knighton (Angela) of Gaffney and Alex Wheeler (Sonya) of Spartanburg; and his siblings, Allen Knighton, Scott Hamby (Charlene) of Greer, Beverley Knighton (Carlton Suttles) of Spartanburg and Gail Aiken (Mike) of Greer. He is also survived by four grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
