He was predeceased by: his parents, Louie Mathis and Myrtle Mathis; and his brothers, Earnest Mathis, Arthur Mathis, Larry McCall and Gary McCall.

He is survived by: his wife Tracy Mathis; his children, Katilin Mathis and James Mathis; and his siblings, James "Chico" Mathis (Kelly), Belinda Aiken, Louise McCurry (Sandford) and Ila Mathis.
