He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry and Bertha Lugena Fortner Johnson; his former wife Faye Hamm Johnson; and his brother Scotty Johnson. He is survived by: his wife JoAnn B. Johnson; his children, Steve Johnson (Karen) of Jacksonville, Jerry Johnson of Anderson, Kathy Shoffner (Mike) of Taylors, Becky Spence (Tyler) of Taylors, Andrea Fortson (Brent) of Zebulon and Charlene Wheeler (Timothy) of Stanley; his brother Billy Johnson (Nancy) of Galax, Virginia; his sister-in-law Carol Johnson of Galax, Virginia; and his daughter-in-law Doris Hampton of Galax, Virginia. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
