He was predeceased by: his mother Grace Mason McAbee; his wife Evelyn Bryant McAbee; his siblings, J. W., Joe McAbee, Betty Sudduth and Willie Mae Williams; and his siblings-in-law, Vivian Taylor and Bill Taylor.

He is survived by: his father James William "Brudge" McAbee; his son Lee; his daughter-in-law Sharon McAbee; his brother Bud McAbee (Sandra); his siblings-in-law, Jim Sudduth and Lavonia Snow of Greer; and his pets, Harry, Molly, Bo and Ghost.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605 or the Washington Baptist Church Food Pantry Fund, 3500 N. Highway 14, Greer, SC 29651.
