He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Hewitt and Ethel "Jo" Leib Hewitt; and his brother Thomas Rutherford Hewitt, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Valerie Hedgecock Hewitt; his children, Stacey Garrett (Stacy) and Ashley Colin Hewitt (Emily Dillard); and his grandchildren, Jacob, Dylan, Joshua, Ragan and Caroline.
