He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall Cogdill and Magnolia Arnold Cogdill; his close friend Jeanette George; his daughter Tracy Lynn George; and his siblings, Vernell Riser and Haverd "Butch" Cogdill.

He is survived by: his stepdaughters, Sandy Kagan and Rosie George; his siblings, Margaret McDonald (Mark), Frances Corley and Clarence Cogdill (Glenda); and his grandsons, Brad Day and Chad Day. He is also survived by two great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
