With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Gene Shirley of Greenwood, South Carolina, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. As Gene departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Gene. Though Gene may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Thomas Shirley and Ellen Opal Everly Shirley; his sister Mary Tinsley; and his brother-in-law Lester Lambert. He is survived by: his siblings, Faye Lambert and Jim Joyce (Maureen); his nieces, April Pruitt (Jay) and Christi Poore (Bryan); and his great-nieces, Kirsten Poore and Kinsley Poore.
A memorial service was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Harley Funeral Home and Crematory (1025 Main St S, Greenwood, SC 29648).
