He was predeceased by: his parents, Rallie F. "Doc" McDonald and Stella Jane Brock McDonald; his grandchildren, Charles Kennedy "Tripp" McDonald, III and Candice Delaine McDonald; and his siblings, Joe B. McDonald, Marion McDonald and Jane McDonald Earwood.

He is survived by: his wife Harriet Calvert Hagen-McDonald; his children, Charles K. "Ken" McDonald, Jr. (Tami), Amy Elizbeth Howard (Jeremy) of Greenwood and Joetta M. Cain (Mike) of Greenwood; his grandchildren, Brandi Michelle Broome (Matthew), Brianna Nicole Woods, Morgan Faith McDonald, Bryson Lee McDonald and Bill Cain (Tricia); his stepgrandchildren, Adalissa, Gavin, Konrad and Soloman Howard; and his great grandchildren, Ava, Kameron Broome and Madison Cain.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Blyth Funeral Home & Cremation Services (1425 Montague Ave, Greenwood, SC 29649). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
